John Berkavitch

Leicester’s most versatile b-boy, John Berkavitch is a veteran of the spoken word scene and was part of the Apples & Snakes’ ‘Temptation’ Tour in 2005. Breakdance, beatbox and creative writing workshop leader extraordinaire, the human cyclone is the engine of The Urbanian Quarter. His performances mix rap, ironic wit, sensitive social observation and unrequited love with a lyrical dexterity and often breath-taking sense of urgency. He was the 2007 UK Slam Champion, the Glastonbury Slam Champion in the same year and the 2006 Backdrop Slam Champion. He also co-wrote and starred in ‘Me Versus The City’, a semi-autobiographical exploration of the graffiti sub-culture.
