An anonymous man earnt over £150 after giving in 1273 cups and bottles to the festival’s refund point! “It took him ten hours to collect them all” James Kelly told us, who heads the refund operation, “The man’s earning over £15 an hour!”. The collection point is off site. This is to avoid people turning up and trying unsuccessfully to buy them on the off chance when we are completely sold out.   There is no ticket collection point on site either, as all tickets will have been sent out already.   If you do not have a ticket in your hand please do not turn up.  There is no comfortable waiting area or facilities for anyone turning up too early.  The festival is based adjacent to a main road and so please bear your safety, our staff’s safety and the safety of the road users in mind.  Please do not turn up too early. The police, Leeds City Council and the Highways Agency will be monitoring the festival route and working together to help avoid any congestion. The routes to the festival will be well signed, are displayed on the Festival Republic website and these details have been sent out with each festival ticket. This year, none of the old festival routes are being used. All traffic will now be directed on to the A1(M), exit at Junction 45 (Boston Spa) and use the local access roads West Woods Road and Paradise Way to travel to the festival site. An additional route will be available on Thursday 27 August, this is the busiest period for festival traffic. Festival traffic will use the A1(M) to Junction 44 (A64 junction) and then travel westbound towards Leeds using both lanes on a one-way system and turn right into the festival car parks, opposite the Dogs Trust. To manage this additional route the A64 is being closed to all through traffic travelling eastbound from the Fox and Grapes on Thursday 27 August from 00:01 on Thursday 27 August until 05:00 on Friday 28 August. Through traffic travelling from York to Leeds on the A64 will continue as normal but drivers should be aware that queues are possible with festival traffic between the A1 (M) (J44) roundabout and the Fox and Grapes.  Non-festival traffic may wish to consider alternative routes, or allow more time for their journey. Bus routes on  the A64 eastbound from Seacroft towards the A1 (M) roundabout will be diverted on Thursday 27th August.  For up to date information, please contact Metro <a href="http://www.wymetro.com">www.wymetro.com</a> or telephone 0113 245 7676. The roads and junctions that are likely to be much busier than normal, as a result of festival traffic from Wednesday 26 August to the afternoon of Friday 28 August are: • A1 (M) northbound and southbound at Junction 45 (Boston Spa) • Grange Moor roundabout • Wattle Syke roundabout • West Woods Road • Tenter Hill • Paradise Way In addition to the above, on Thursday 27 August traffic on the following roads will also be busier than normal: • A1 (M) at Junction 44 (A64) • Bramham Interchange roundabout • A64 westbound On Monday 31 August, as festival attendees leave the site, all of the above routes will again be busier than normal but queuing should not be as significant. Drivers are strongly advised to use alternative routes wherever possible and avoid the above areas or, if unavoidable, to allow plenty of extra time for their journeys. OTHER TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS The following temporary traffic orders are in place as part of the overall traffic plan: Kiddal Lane and Potterton Lane Kiddal Lane will be closed at the junction with the A64 / York Road, and Potterton Lane will be closed at the junction with Kiddal Lane from 8am Wednesday 26th August to 3.30pm Monday 31st August Access will of course be maintained for local residents. Aberford Road / junction with A64 Aberford Road and the A64 junction will be closed for Thursday 27 August only during the period of the A64 eastbound closure. A wristband must be worn by everyone on site, and if yours is damaged or lost you may not be able to enter the arena and/or may be required to leave the site.  So here are a few tips on looking after your wristband…. 1.  Ensure your wristband is secure.  The clasp should be firmly in place and not slipping up or down.  The wristband must not be loose so check it cannot slip over your wrist. 2. Do not tamper with your wristband in Any way.  The wristband often has loose ends which many are tempted to cut or burn off.  Do not do this. If the ends are tampered with it increases the likelihood of losing your wristband as the ends may fray and/or can slip out of the clasp more easily. Most wristbands have a warning which says “void if removed” and the promoter has the right to refuse entry if a wristband has been tampered with. 3. Do not tie knots or add anything to your wristband.  All bands are checked each time you enter the arena and at various checkpoints around the site.  Knots, plasters, tape etc. on your band will have to be removed to check the band properly and this will cause delays to you and others at the entrance.  Some people may be sensitive to the metal on some clasps.  If this is the case do not put tape on the wristband, but protect your skin with hypoallergenic tape instead. 4. Keep your wristband safe.  Even if a wristband appears secure it may still get lost or stolen especially if you get involved in lively crowd activity, “moshing” etc.  The best way to keep your wristband safe, and to prevent the loose ends snagging or annoying you, is to wear an elasticated/towelling sweat band over the top or a long sleeved top with elasticated cuffs.  This way you will keep it safe but you will still be able to show it at checkpoints easily. 5. What if you have a problem?  As soon as you realise you have a problem, lost, damaged band etc. you must get help.  If you are outside the arena there will be “wristband exchanges” where someone will try to help/advise you.  If you are inside the arena do not leave, go to the arena entrance and, without leaving the arena, ask for the supervisor who will be able to help.
